About Stephen
Stephen Wiltshire is a British architectural artist best known for his ability to draw entire cities from memory after seeing them just once. Diagnosed with autism early in life, he found his voice through art, eventually earning international acclaim and a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his contributions to art. At only eight years old, the UK Prime Minister owned one of his pieces.
Portfolio
Creative
This collection includes early sketches, observational drawings, and development pieces that reveal Stephen’s creative process. These sketches highlight the raw talent, line confidence, and expressive mark-making that define his art.
Cityscapes
Stephen’s cityscapes capture the personality and rhythm of the world’s greatest cities. Every drawing blends architectural accuracy with artistic emotion, creating scenes that feel both familiar and alive. From London’s historic streets to New York’s modern skyline, each piece is a tribute to the places that inspire him.
Panoramic
Stephen is globally recognised for his panoramic city drawings — vast, detailed, and drawn almost entirely from memory. These sweeping skylines showcase thousands of buildings and landmarks with remarkable precision, celebrating the scale and beauty of urban life.
"Possibly the best child artist in Britain." That was the verdict of Hugh Casson, former President of the Royal Academy of Arts, when he first encountered Stephen’s work in 1987 — Stephen was just thirteen. Casson introduced him to a literary agent, launching a career that would see Stephen published worldwide, exhibited on every continent and appointed MBE by the Queen.
"Do the best you can and never stop." That is Stephen’s own motto — and nowhere is it more evident than in his panoramas. After a single helicopter flight he commits every building, road and rooftop to memory, then renders entire city skylines by hand. Tokyo. New York. Singapore. London. All from memory. All to extraordinary precision.
