It is the morning of 1 January 1990 and we are seated in the forecourt of San Giorgio Maggiore. The gondolas are moored because most Venetians are still in bed. I ask Stephen to draw the view from the Doges Palace to the Salute. “I`ll see“ he says. The profoundity of his laconic statements frequently baffles me but forty five minutes later I do “see“.

Prints are rolled and shipped in an archival tube via a tracked courier service.
